Description

This course will provide learners with experience in the effective planning and development of social studies programs for children pre-school through 8th grade. It will address goals, objectives, curriculum, educational technology and resource materials relevant to pre-school & elementary social studies. Lakota and other indigenous peoples' heritage will be examined. Students will explore various learning styles, classroom management technique and parental involvement. In this course the learner will develop informal and formal lesson plans designed around the South Dakota State Social Studies Standards and the Common Core Standards for Literacy in History/Social Studies.
Pre-requisites: Acceptance to Teacher Preparation Program
