This semester long secondary experience, including transition services, is one-half of the year-long practicum that must be completed as part of the alternative certification requirements. Alternative certification teachers completing this experience will work under the mentorship of an individual designated by their employing school and maintain an internship log. Under the direction of a college supervisor alternative certification teachers will complete an Impact on Student Learning Project and develop a Professional InTASC/CEC Portfolio demonstrating their knowledge and skills in working with adolescent learners who have disabilities. In addition, alternative certification teachers will prepare for and take the state designated special education licensure exam.
