Description

This course will focus on the criminal code of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and other criminal laws of other jurisdictions. Students will learn the elements of offenses, the role of the tribal prosecutor and defense strategies. Students will study the criminal process from arrest through arraignment, pretrial and post trial procedures. Tribal, federal, and state criminal jurisdiction issues will be covered.
