Description

Sowk 333 is the first course in a two-course sequence, Sowk 343 is the second course that covers theories and knowledge of human bio-psycho-social development, with a focus on individuals and families. The Human Behavior and the Social Environment sequence provides content about theories and knowledge of human bio-psycho-social development and the range of social systems in which individuals live (families, groups, organizations, communities and institutions). Particular focus is given o the Lakota worldview and its understanding of human development and social systems.
The sequence teaches students to evaluate theory and examine its application to client situations by identifying what we, as humans, all have in common. Bio-psycho-social theories are critically examined using social work values and ethics as examined through foundational relationships.
