Description
This course focuses on United States history after the Civil War, while placing that nation within its international context. It begins with a look at how the people of the United States began to recover from the bloodiest war in U.S. history and ends with an examination of the United States' place within the modern post-Cold War world. This course examnies not only traditional history -politics, diplomacy, and wars - but also social, cultural, economic, and demographic patterns, trends, and the everyday life of ordinary people.
